The collector armor is actually BETTER than what you can buy in some locations (examples use warrior armor):

- Desert (buy 71 collect 80)
- Jungle (buy 59/65 collect 71)
- Beetletun (buy 59 collect 59)
- Lions Arch (buy 50 collect 59)
- Yaks bend (buy 50 collect 47)
- Ascalon (buy 50 collect 41)

So really only the Ascalon collector armor stinks and could use improvement.

[edit] Bah, Hidden beat me to it! I agree with his statement that the jungle armor is well worth the time collecting it, but I'm not known to race through any areas of the game.

Desert collector armor is just as good as Droknar's armor, & in at least one way better.... it's cheaper.

I recently farmed the materials for an AR21 set for my male necro. He's ugly, but its a nice set to load with superior runes. Now I'm a saccer. Why do they make the 2 versions of the necro collector armor the best and the worst?

And for some folks, looks matter more than armor bonuses.
I got all my characters desert collectors armor, and when my necro came along, what a disappointment that was after getting monk and rangers.

One man's meat is another man's poison.

Many people do like the necro female collector's armour though. (for those who have got no idea how the female nec collector's armour looks like, the search function is ur friend)

My first time playing through, my monk and warrior both had desert collectors armor until i could afford better armor once i got things setteled money wise in the game. My monk now still runs around in her presear armor. i forgot to switch it last night and did the first 10 minutes of THK in it.....

That reminds me! This weekend I did Thunderhead with a PUG and another elementalist went thru the whole mission with just his head piece (fire eye maybe?), shield and *I think* a cane (definitely a "wand" though). No armor. He was asked about it and said he had armor, but never put it on.

Man, if I was a monk on that mission I'd have told him, "If you're so 1337 that you don't need armor then you obviously don't need any healing from me!"

I wish I'd had the time to see what he was doing, but THK isn't the place for that.

for the starting GW player, the collectors are your BEST friend. the armor is easily accessable and cheap, weapons and offhands/shields the same. some of my best weapons have been collector weapons.

I disagree on that. The chest armor for Ascalon requires Leathery Claws from Hydra. He is in the same area as Grendich Courthouse. I don't call that easily accessable for the new player.

The collectors armor is usually higher level than the stuff you can craft in any particular area. Why spend thousands on materials and crafting when you can spend hundreds instead on the way to Droknar's Forge? Also if you take the trouble to get decent armor, your monk in the ascension missions will thank you instead of cursing you...
Hehehehe... When I was a monk, I was always extremely bored (PvE monking is cakewalk compared to PvP). So when I played with my Ele, I always went "Leroy Jenkins" with my Pre-searing armor in the Ring of Fire. Good times

My guess is that he might have been what I've been toying with also:

Kinetic Armor
Armor of Earth

to a less extent and you should easily have noticed:

Ward against x...

and the best one:

Obsidian Flesh

Of course, if he's a truly good caster, he's letting the tank drawing the aggro focus and is therefore rarely hit at all.

And an earth head piece does look kinda like a Flame Eye if you're not paying attention...

Back on topic on my part though, some of my characters have collector armor simply because I cant decide on which "better" armor to get, so I just use the collector armor until I see something I can really feel worth the money. My monk on the other hand, got the collector armor last because it actually looks decent compared to even the fissure. The lack of bonus for certain specialization build isn't as big a deal as you might think and there's no law that you can only have one outfit! :P

NO WAY!!!

15k Aeromancer is totally different, even dyed the same color!!

I'd be more than happy to model for you if you like as I like them both and use them both for switching between different builds.

Beofe I got my fissure, I used the desert colelctors armor for my male ele. Thats is because fissure and coll armor are the only male ele armor that don't look like you're wearing a dress. Fissure armor allowed me to have some stat bonusese besides.

How is it cheating when you have already played the game through once or twice and can no longer stand watching the same cutscenes that there's always someone in the group that refuses to skip? (And why is there always at least one person that does it?) Is it cheating playing it the second or more times around since you already know the location of things and the types of mobs that you will be facing? Is it cheating when you yell out I'll kill you later Rurik and spoil it for others that don't yet know the story line?

Being purist the first time around through the game is one thing, anal, yes, and understandable Wanting to repeat the same pain over and over (you do want to explore other profession, don't you?) is just massochism.
